JusticeNet and Justice Connect have announced they will merge, combining their complementary services and expertise to help more people access free legal support when they need it most.

JusticeNet’s staff, services, and operations will become part of Justice Connect, strengthening Justice Connect’s national footprint while maintaining a dedicated South Australian presence, leadership, and workforce.

Both organisations share a deep commitment to improving access to justice. The merger will bring Justice Connect’s national infrastructure and technology together with JusticeNet’s local expertise and strong South Australian relationships, extending the reach and impact of their work.

“By combining our resources, expertise, networks, and capabilities, we will be able to strengthen pro bono engagement and better support the increasing number of people that rely on our services,” JusticeNet Management Committee President Scott Foreman said.

“It will also mean we are better positioned to influence systemic change and ensure our long-term sustainability.

“Our commitment to South Australia remains unchanged and we’re excited about what this merger means as we look to become stronger together while delivering greater impact.”

Justice Connect Board Chair Brooke Massender said the two organisations are deeply aligned in their purposes, services, and commitment to access to justice.

“This merger is a significant strategic opportunity and reflects the strength of the organisations built by our staff, member firms, and partners over many years,” she said.

“We’re always looking ahead to the changing needs of people seeking help and building the technology and systems to step up to the growing demand for our services. This merger will give us a stronger national footprint for us to enable our services, digital tools, and information to reach more communities.

“Together, we can open new pathways for people and not-for-profit organisations seeking legal help, bringing our vision of a world in which legal support is within everyone’s reach closer to reality.”

The announcement follows more than two years of discussions and due diligence by both organisations to ensure their collective resources and expertise can be combined for the long-term benefit of community members in need of legal assistance.

JusticeNet members approved the implementation deed at the organisation’s AGM on 17 September. The organisations will now progress implementation, which is expected to be completed before the end of 2026.

Clients, referral partners, and pro bono members can continue to access services and work with both organisations during the transition. Further information will be shared as implementation progresses.
