Submission to the Senate's inquiry into the extent and nature of poverty in Australia

Home : News & Events : Submission to the Senate's inquiry into the extent and nature of poverty in Australia

Last month, JusticeNet SA made a submission to the Senate’s inquiry into the extent and nature of poverty in Australia.

The vast majority of people who contact JusticeNet for legal assistance are experiencing or are at risk of poverty, which gives our services direct insight into the range and complexity of issues brought on our compounded by poverty. We focused our submission on people experiencing chronic disadvantage, as well as those who are ineligible for aid yet cannot afford legal assistance. Throughout the course of our work, we have found that legal problems and social problems are closely related, and that we cannot address legal problems without concurrently addressing social ones.
